Selbst kleine Ueberspannungen können empfindliche, elektronische Anlagen, Computernetze und rechnergesteuerte Produktionssysteme in Sekundenbruchteilen außer Gefecht setzen.

Überspannungen können durch Blitzeinwirkung oder Schaltvorgänge in elektrischen Versorgungsnetzen entstehen.

Bei Gebäuden ohne äußeren Blitzschutz ist ein Ueberspannungsschutz des Wechselrichters als Herzstück der Photovoltaikanlage besonders wichtig.
